8B: Writing assigment

Hello 8b!

Now you have read your book in English and it's time for you to write a text about it. Your task is to have conversation with main character about the book. The writing should be done in school and NOT at home. Prepare youself so you know what to write when getting to class ext week. You will have 2,5 lesson to write it, so plan!!!

1. First of all, take the main character to a place in the book that you liked, describe it and also explain to that person why it is important to you.

2. Talk the person about a scene in the book that you really liked and explain why you liked it; then ask what his or her thoughts are about this experience?

3. Talk to the main character about a scene in the book that surprised you, why did this person act this way? What would you do in the same situation?

4. Talk to the person about a part in the book that made you upset/sad? Tell him or her why this made you feel this way! If possible, ask the person why he or she made that decision.

5. Talk to the main character about a part in the book that was difficult for you to understand. Tell him or her how you got through it. What strategies did you use?

6.  Talk to another person in the book about what he or she thinks about the main character and why he or she has these thoughts. Compare these with your own. Describe what you think of the main character!

7. Which questions were left unanswered? Ask these to the main character!

8. Talk to him or her about the message and the theme of the book.

9. Talk to the main character about the end of the book. Did it end in the way you thought it would? Did the end surprise you? If possible, would the main character change how the book ended?

10. Ask the main character if he or she can spoil any details from what happened later.

Engelska 8C v 48

Hej!

Eftersom fredagslektionen ägnades åt annat ska du nu på tisdag prata om andra och sista delen av boken The Body. Du kommer att få frågor att diskutera i grupp för att visa att du har läst och förstått boken samt visa hur väl du kan samtala på engelska.

Vi kommer att titta på filmen Stand by Me under torsdags- och fredagslektionerna eftersom den filmen är baserad på boken the Body. Vecka 49 kommer du att få prata om boken med elever från 8A och 8B. Det samtalet kommer att spelas in och sambedömas av oss tre engelsklärare. Den vecka ska du även skriva en text utifrån både filmen och boken.

Chapter 14-16

1. Talk about what it was like where they camped and why they didn’t talk about Ray Brower.

2. Talk about his encounter with the deer and what it was going to mean to him years to come. Try

to explain what the quote means: “But he most important things are the hardest to say.” Page 47

Chapter 17-20

1. Talk about what happened in the pond and why they felt so horrified.

2. Talk about what happened when they discovered the body and what it looked like. What did

Gordie realise when it comes to death, being dead.

3. Pay attention to how the weather changed. Why do you think the author did that? What did it

bring to the story?

Chapter 21-27

1. Describe what happened when the other gang got to the body, and the two gangs met.

2. Explain why you think Chris got so upset after meeting the other gang. There were many

different reasons, and some were obvious, some were not. Analyse!

3. What happened to each of the boys when they got back to Castle Rock?

4. How did the friendship between the boys developed later, after the events of this adventure?
